Gateway EDI's Secondary Claim Processing Environment (SCoPE) takes care of filing those tedious secondary claims. SCoPE electronically reads the primary claim and payment information to evaluate patient coverage. If a supplemental policy exists, but there has been no action taken, SCoPE will manage that claim by switching the flag in the file to reflect filing of that claim, send the modified 835 to the provider, and file a clean supplemental claim along with appropriate documentation. SCoPE can process the secondary both electronically and via paper, and can work with a variety of commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid. Web-based reporting and printing for the patient, provider, and insurer - all in a HIPAA environment - is a key functionality.

SCoPE handles all aspects of the secondary claim, offering:

• Click'n Print - web application allowing customers to print EOB information in a variety of ways
• eCOB - filing secondary claims electronically when available, paper when necessary
• 837 COB - accepting and submitting secondary claims with complete EOB information directly from the provider when primary ERA's are not available
• Direct Data Entry COB - Gateway EDI will support on-line corrections of electronic secondary claims when any of the data elements are missing
