Since 2001, Gateway EDI has proudly supported the Children’s Home Society of Missouri (CHS).  CHS is a non-profit social services agency with a mission to improve the quality of life for children with profound developmental disabilities.  They have provided a safe, permanent and loving home for children since 1891.

CHS has many areas of focus for their care.  They provide adoption services, education and counseling, care for children with developmental disabilities and is recognized and licensed as a Family Nurturing Center of Missouri.

They currently provide two residential sites, in the St. Louis area, for children with significant disabilities, as well, as respite care for families of children with disabilities.  The respite care program provides occasional relief to parents who meet the daily challenges of caring for a severely handicapped child.  They provide a nurturing, home setting for children with significant disabilities from birth to twenty-one years of age, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week. The children are non-ambulatory and may have a combination of disabilities including cerebral palsy, mental retardation, brain trauma and epilepsy.  Although the agency receives federal funding, it also relies heavily on community support. This support provides additional activities for the children that reside in the two St. Louis area homes.

Gateway EDI and associates help support CHS financially as well as volunteering time working for the organization. Each employee receives eight hours of company time each year to contribute to a charitable cause – and many have spent their hours at CHS.

The Gateway EDI associates embrace the opportunity to help CHS in many ways.  The associates participate in field trips with the children to places such as a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game or the St. Louis Zoo, and also support many fundraisers throughout the year such as ‘Dress Down for CHS’, an annual trivia night and many other events.    The children of CHS hold a very special place in the hearts of the Gateway EDI associates.
